Ask IH new product - why do I have to use Stripe?
When trying to add my side project to Indie Hackers, I'm prompted with the following: "We're currently only accepting product businesses (as opposed to agencies, consultancies, or services businesses) that generate more than $0 in revenue through Stripe and are willing to share.". Now, I have users waiting to buy my product, but since I handle all user requests individually, I don't really need to give Stripe 3% of my income. So I'm considering if I should have my users pay through Stripe, just for the sake of getting by project on the site.
I also hope that IH will find a solution that allows projects not using Stripe to be part of the site.
How are users paying you? You're probably losing more than 3% by making it hard for people to pay. And if your margins are this tight, bump up your prices.
Right, I'm not complaining about the 3%. I'm complaining that A) I have to setup a payment pipeline when my users would rather just pay with bank IBAN, B) I'm locked into a particular platform (Stripe).
You don't HAVE to create a company here, but if you do, the idea is to share your numbers hence the Stripe requirement. Also the site is owned by Stripe so...
