What is your favorite service or product that is superior to others in the marketplace, but failed?
I don't think it's controversial to say that quality almost never wins by itself, but that doesn't mean we can't pay our respects!
I feel like the iphone 5c was a fantastic iteration of the iphone that should have continued to this day, but unfortunately people like shiny metal over plastic.
Sunrise Calendar - acqui-killed by Microsoft
SubForm - successful kickstarter, nothing like it in the market, but founders shut it down while still in beta to instead focus on different product they created while building subform
Mailbox - acqui-killed by Dropbox
actually a lot of great apps are acquired and then killed off

Do you think everpix could have made it work under slightly different conditions?
From what I've heard, they should have focused more on getting paid users and less on general signups. They didn't market the paid accounts aggressively enough. I would gladly pay for that service today.
Hardly a failure, but Square Cash is (in my opinion) much better than Venmo, but doesn't seem to have taken off as much.

Very sad -- given the number of unsustainable bets investors make, it's quite shameful no one was willing to give this one a bit more runway. Hopefully someone will try to do this again.
