Ask IH: What are proven ways to grow a podcast from 1,000 listeners to 10,000?

I have a podcast that is seeing some great support from about 1,500 loyal listeners. However, I of course want to grow it so more people can get my content. What has worked for your podcasts in increasing visibility online and gaining many more listeners?
