How do you market your API?
I'm a solo founder and just launched an API that helps run my main business! It's available on Mashape (0), which will hopefully draw some interest, but I was hoping to learn how people on IH typically market their APIs?
I've done my best to make the documentation as straight forward as possible, and have made some posts on Quora, Product Hunt (today actually 🙌 (1)) and other places where people who might find use of my API might hang around. Also going to post it to some API directories like ProgrammableWeb.
Besides the above, are there any other best practices you can share? Thank you!

How long did it take for you to make the site?
Yes! I have freelancers who help me of course. Been working on this for ~18 months :)
The directories are great but I'd also do some demo tutorials of it in action on you tube.
Another thing might be to create some ruby gem or js micro lib for embedding your api into someones website and open sourcing it into Github.

That's a really cool idea - so making it easier to make the API useful I suppose. Currently it's just a JSON feed... Will think of the best way to do this.
