texturelab.io - Textures Made for You

Imagine being a 3D artist trying to find the perfect textures for your scene/characters. Instead of going to a regular texture website (like https://www.textures.com/) to get boring static textures that might not be ideal for the vision you have in mind, you go to http://texturelab.io where you can find beautiful textures that you can tweak to your liking. All of our textures are made for a physically-based rendering pipeline, they're unity-ready and our public ones are CC0 licensed.

What do you think of the idea?
What do you think of that pitch?
What do you think of the website? (this is the first draft)

Be as brutally honest as possible.

This is an interesting idea, my issue is that the textures feel pretty simplistic and low quality (maybe that's the goal?). Most of the textures don't seem to have any parameters to tweak the style which seems to defeat the purpose of the site.

The site is a bit bland, but I think it works for now and people who need these will understand your goal.

I'd target people who need performant shaders (indie game devs), over time try to push high quality content for the more advanced texture artists.

The textures are simplistic because the tech is still in development but I didnt want to wait months before it's complete to show off the idea. For now, I'm targeting indie game devs first ( as you've mentioned) with simple textures. It will be able to produce higher quality textures over time.

I'm slowly adding parameters to the textures one by one but maybe I should remove the ones without parameters right now to avoid confusion.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

See if you can find common parameters that apply to most if not all of the textures (rather than removing them). For instance: Color likely applies to every texture, add that and then a blurb that says "Additional Parameters coming soon..." or similar.

Heh, yea color is the easiest one. I could just spend the entire day tomorrow adding the rest of the parameters.
