I got tired of seeing ugly pitch decks so I decided to act on it

https://www.yourdeckisugly.com is my answer to that problem

Long story short, I'm an entrepreneur but I also see a TON of pitch decks for products good and bad, but almost universally the decks are hideous.

I find myself constantly giving feedback to people on how to make them better, so I decided to build this in case people that don't have someone like me to call actually want feedback on their deck.

I didn't bother with integrating in payments yet because I doubt it goes hugely vira, but if it does that's an easy enough problem to solve.

Well... the idea would be nice but I wouldn't trust a service who promises to improve pitch deck (what is that in your case? pdf? pp?) but its site is ugly itself...
    Sorry but good luck.

lol well I’m sorry to disappoint you ... part of the point was to make it kind of humorous but sorry to hear you don’t find it appealing design wise

Like the idea. Super confused by the landing page. What does fratstar and pitch decks have in common?

Sorry to confuse you Josh! It was meant to poke fun at the types of terrible pitch decks we see and I just happened to have that image laying around, didn't want to use someone's (actual) ugly pitch deck

Ah. Got it. My 2¢ is find or make an ugly pitch deck because it throws landing page visitors way off the scent. :) Good luck!

Going to be brutally honest (as someone who has been in the funded SaaS game of hyper growth and met with/networked/pitched/all that bullshit with VCs). I wouldn't use this.

There is a huge myth that an ugly pitch deck is the reason people pass on your business, and you. And that is simply not true. Your job as a founder when raising money is to have re-risked the business as much as possible.

This often shows up as revenue, mvp in market, retention, somewhat reasonable unit economics, a few early hires that are great.

If you haven't done these things above (or even a few, like I said, you're job is to derisk the business, if you had all of those done you probably wouldn't want/need to raise money) go back to the drawing board.

Wasting time trying to make decks to raise money when you don't have some of the above is going to end badly. No matter how great your design is.

    Good idea

    Any buyers yet?

One thing is unclear (to me). Do you receive the pitch and then update it or comment on it. Or do you send it directly to VCs ("Submit it here and real VCs will give you the anonymous feedback")?

      1. 1

Ah good question! I should make this more clear. I first help you get the feedback and then offer to submit it to a group of VCs who will give feedback anonymously and perhaps even ask for a proper intro.

Background: I spent most of the last 5 years as the CTO of an Investment Bank, so I've seen tons of decks and know lots of VCs who are happy to give feedback on ones I forward

          I thought so :)

I suggest to make it a little clearer.

          Good luck!

no luck so far but I've only posted it here and on a Show HN

My plan for now was to simply help the ones with the most promise craft a better pitch and get them to the right VCs wasn't really going to charge for that part of it
