Wordpress or React with AWS?
Hi all, long time listener to the podcast, first time poster. I've decided to go for it and start a business. It will be a "Uber for X" type business where I'll need to connect service providers with users who want that service.
I have a coding background, but none of it in Web/Frontend. Should I choose to build a WordPress site to get things up ASAP (get a MVP) or start with something like React and host it on a AWS server (or somewhere else), which will take longer. I'm worried that if I do things in WordPress it won't be scalable or as cost effective as AWS once I do scale.
What do you think?
WordPress is generally not a good platform for an application, but it does allow you to put something together super quick to validate it - there are probably already Uber-for-x plugins available.
So the decision I think is whether you want to invest 2 weeks of effort into validating or 3 months.
If you’re new to startups, don’t know how to build the two sided marketplace, not certain if this will work, then go for WordPress to avoid wasting time.

I say worry about scaling when it's time to scale. You might not get there, but it's a good problem to have!
