I have $10,000 worth of AWS credits expiring in 2020, and $5,000 of AWS Premium Support credits (Gold and Business). I don't really have any plans for how to use them. I graduated from a really expensive masters program and got it as a perk.
I'd like to sell them if possible. Is anyone using a substantial amount of AWS, and could put this to good use?
Or how can I generate some type of return on this $15,000 value? Googling around, some people have mentioned using them on https://hash-to-coins.com/, but I think I would barely get any value out of that.
The only other alternative I see is to use them to scrape or collect lots and lots of data and just use it for a project or any business idea. This doesn't seem that optimal either, because there is no clarity on generating any $ return on them.
I just want to find any way to offset my tuition cost!
Cashing these credits is not easy. My suggestion would be, give it as free to host side projects and ask for equity. Also help them to grow up with your knowledge. If it succeeds, no one would mind to pay back when they generate money from your resource.
I'd be interested in this too, but it's always hard to find the right partnership especially if it's long distance/not in the same city as you are in. I've actually tried a long distance partnership and it was very hard to maintain after a few months, but I do like the idea
That's really a nice suggestion. Helping them grow with your knowledge part & in a way taking care of hosting costs for equity.
Hey.
Interesting to see you have compute resources and you're looking to try to convert them to $$$.
Not really you'd do this. You might try to find groups/forums where people are doing compute projects. You might hang on on IRC channels for cloud computing -- Digital Ocean/Linode/Google/Etc.. With an offer to sell what you have for 20-30% of the price of what people are currently getting..
I've got more ideas if you want to discuss.
In fact, I'm running a crawling operation using Digital Ocean. If you want to discuss, get me your cell or your email and we can have a further conversation.
But I can guarantee you, that no one is going to offer you dollar for dollar on what you have. In fact if you can get 5-10% I'd take it and run!!.
As an example, I'm talking to a couple of people who went through one of the accelerators who offer AWS as a benefit. We're working through the possibility of them giving a chunk of their compute processes away for free! -- not sure if this will happen though.
But you need to realize. Digital Ocean provides a 1cpu/2G/1mth vm for ~$5. So you need to realize that the $15K (price) isnt going to really turn into $15K...
So if you want to discuss, hit me up!
Hi tsmith, sure I'd be interested in learning more about what you're doing. You can email me at my username at gmail

Hey...
I do. The project I'm working on crawl US college sites for class/book data. The project currently crawls/extracts data from ~400 colleges.
So yeah, cheap compute power is required.
hit me up if you want to talk on this
Looks like my thread has been hijacked completely by this suvindhs guy. Not sure what your situation is. Feel free to reply if you are still looking for credits. Or email me at valuearb at gmail

it would be nice if you don't hijack my thread. Create your own if you are desperate. I put in the effort to write out my situation. Maybe you should put in your own effort.
Hey! @valuearb, I'd be willing to buy them!!
Also are they transferable?
Hey Jonathan, I will check if I can transfer the actual credits. I know I can create an organization and add your account into mine, or make your account a sub account. I might even consider just selling my entire account. Please email me at my username at gmail
Just a heads-up: it is probably against AWS's TOS to mine cryptocurrencies on their servers.
I know for sure that Google Cloud Platform doesn't allow it.
Hey! I'd be interested in buying all of your aws credits. My email is in my profile :).
Hey, I know its quite a time since you have posted this. Are you still keen on selling the credits?
Yes, I would like to have around $2,000? Could probably pay 100 for that?

Please be advised that Activate credits are not legally transferable or sellable by our TOS. Please see section 1.3 when you activated your credits for reference: https://aws.amazon.com/awscredits/
Yeah I saw that in the terms, so I'm just going to use them for a bunch of my own ideas. I wish I could extend the expiration date but I'll take what I have been given and won't complain
I'm looking it for good deal. Can you please ping me in twitter or G+?

Why not use it to "invest" like an angel investor to cool projects? That money can go a long way!

I can try to connect you with another post that came up in IH earlier about someone looking to put together a crew of people and just release tons of ideas until one of them sticks.
Sure, that would be nice. Thanks!
Do you mind contacting me via email? It is listed on my profile :D.
Your best shot? sell AWS VM for Half or a third of the price! :)
Thanks for the idea, I'm willing to do that, but do you know how I can find somebody who needs it and is likely to buy it at that price? Or where else can I post this
Best way would be to sell it to someone you know, because since you can't transfer the credit, you will have to manage the VM for other peoples, not really practical. Or will you sell the whole aws account with credits attached?
I think it allows me to create a group/organization and add other accounts as owners/admins. I suppose I can sell the whole account also like you suggested
I would hop on this asking for these credits, but Serverless is so cheap to run that my startup costs like $0.50 a month so... :)
Yeah I am not sure if these AWS credits would be useful unless someone is already consuming a large amount of AWS resources right now

Am a student running some of my side projects. I would be more than happy if I could get a few bucks :)
I would love to help in some way to fellow students, but my first priority is to figure out a way to make use of these. I also have a small startup project, but my hosting needs for that amounts to just a few dollars per month!
I would be thrillled if you'd allow me to have them... I run a young startup and have limited funds, this would be great
