Tell IH: I am going to help Indie Hackers to architect their products (FOR FREE)

Hello, fellow indies,

My name is Betim, and I've more than 14yrs experience in developing software. Most of my career as a professional developer I spent on design and architectures of the solutions, and this helped me to see things from a different perspective (as a developer). I'm not that type of architect that spends his time just white-boarding, though, I call myself as a polyglot programmer while I can code in many languages, and know deeply several database systems.

  • Why I'm doing this?

I'm doing this because I learned so much from this community while listening all 50ish podcast episodes and reading almost every forum post. I'm amazed by the work that, initially, Courtland is doing, and the community, by sharing business model, revenue number and all tips and tricks hard-earned through their business lifetime.

  • What can I help you?

After listening to your idea, I believe I can help you in defining the tech stack you've to use, resources you might need and timeframe of the product development.
My skills are listed below (but not restricted to :D):

  • Database systems (Relational & NoSQL)

  • Frameworks (.Net, Java & Python, sorry Erlang'ers :D)

  • Cloud (AWS & Azure, sorry GCloud)

  • What about the price?

Price. What price? I'm doing all this for free! Period. And I'm not expecting anything in return. So no credit card required and no invoice emailed after the conversation. You just need a skype account or hangouts. That's it :D.

  • How I'll realize "this project"?

There will be 30 mins sessions, and it's recommended to choose just one slot, leaving room for others as well.
You can go and pick your slot here: https://appoint.ly/s/betim/free-tech-consult

  • Last but not least.

Please comment below with your suggestions and ideas how to make this project more productive for everybody. Give me your thoughts, please!

I'm really happy to see such positive feedback from everybody. Feeling good that my calendar is so buzzy now! Just till now 10 people booked their slots.
I see I missed to clearly describe what I mean by "architect products", so I'm trying to explain shortly here.
By architecting product I mean choosing the right tech stack for the problem. On every context there are some practices that works better than others, some technologies works better than others, and some frameworks makes you more productive than others. Ex. data scrapping is best handled by Python, long executed tasks are best handled by Java (or C#, or ...), etc.
So having extensive experience on multiple frameworks, tools and environments (lately, would be more appropriate cloud environments) it's quite straight forward for me to give my opinion on choosing best tools for the scenario. Hope I was clear!

Hey betim. This is great. While I don’t need any consult time, I love when people give back to communities. It’s really the reason they are so powerful.

Thanks for the support @shaneketterman .

Hi! Just signed up for an appointment :D

@Vortex looking forward to talk to you!

Thank you Betim for taking such a great initiative. Booked! Looking forward to it.

Thought that might help others - I think the most important thing for an Indiehacker is being able to get stuff out the door. And therefore we must adopt the simplest / most straightforward use of technology bearing our own capabilities and limitations to achieve that.

      Fully agree with you @futurehacker93

Nice one Betim, thanks for giving back to the community.

    Hey Betim,
How did this work out in the end? Can you share any finalized plans that you completed?

  7. 1

Hi Betim, how do you plan to conect ? Via phone ?

I'm adding you on Google Hangouts

@betim, thanks for taking the time! :)

I have a question before wasting your time, can you help with the decisions on a database tech and scheme architecture? This part always gets me confused.

I and I'm sure others would like to review the finalized plans, how can we make that happen?
I'm sure there are some people who don't want to share their secrets but there may be some who don't mind or even wish to share.

      @HikingCetec ,

I'd happy to review even a finalized product plan/architecture.
Will see if we can make better or speed up finalizing it.
