Subdomain or new site for macOS app?
So I need a product page for one of my macOS apps. And was wondering what ppls thoughts on for getting a new domain name or just creating a subdomain on my main site?
Normally I’d just get a new domain name, but I have so many now. If there’s no significant benefit to an entirely new domain, I’d rather just create subdomain moving forward.
Does a subdomain hurt my seo, do having multiple sites hurt my seo?
A lot of successful app developers market their apps/tools under one domain. If one product gets a lot of traction it might be worth creating a separate site & domain for it, which is easy these days but it does take precious time and you want to validate your idea before you spend too much time on that.
That being said, for those developing a Saas web app I'd still go for unique domain & site.
The way I do it is to have an umbrella domain and then have subdomains. if the product booms, then I get a unique domain and you can redirect your subdomain there.
That’s a smart way to do it.

Thanks for the feedback guys, Im currently going through and creating product pages for all my apps which don't yet have one.....
Not sure why I was against subdomains in the past, but it is a heck of a lot less work than custom domains. Ill eventually probably migrate my custom domains to subdomains and add redirects.
It's even easier now that Let's Encrypt has wildcard certificates.
