Hi Guys,
I am working on a common SAAS solution - invoices. Nothing new, just doing things from a different perspective in terms of market. So far, the dev guys have been able to get part of the project working and i am planning to commence by 1st August.
My question is should I start billing from day one or do I focus on building the subscriber base first then bill later?
I am a business development person and my instincts tell me to start free and grow from there. However, your opinions will help in finalising my decision.
Thanks
I would suggest not billing from day 1. It'll cost you tile and money to build that now, and you don't know yet if anyone will actually pay.
I didn't build my payment form until after I had someone verbally committed to becoming a payed subscriber.
You can and should still list pricing, however.
Since this sounds like more of B2B app, bill from day 1. Get something initially because you can increase it later once you have more features. Starting out free would probably mean you have to keep that free tier there and create another paid tier down the road for more add-on services.
Thanks Vez. I have considered tiered billing (3 plans) - Free, and two paid with different features. I have some of the features for the "Free" version.
I agree that with you and will make the "Free" version very very cheap and review later if the need arises.
