What do you think of this idea?

The other day, I was talking with my girlfriend about what types of small things we could do to have a smaller footprint in our personal lives (e.g. eat less beef) and the conversation veered off towards how we were happy that we recently purchased road bikes and have started commuting to work every day. This got me thinking.

The premise:
Incentivize people to ride their bikes to work with discounts to their favorite outdoors brands.

The business:
Find outdoors brands that would be willing to offer discount codes for overstocked items and then to build an experience where users build up point towards those discounts by riding their bikes to work. We make money when the discount code is applied and a purchase is made. Basically, affiliate marketing.

The product:
A simple to use and cleanly designed mobile app where the user selects and item they want to work towards and then start accumulating points towards that goal by logging miles on the way to work and perhaps getting a bonus for consecutive days (like a multiplier in guitar hero). Once they have enough points, they can claim the reward and if they make a purchase we make affiliate revenue with the brand.
