TL;DR
A step-by-step guide to launching on Product Hunt
- Submit your product at 10AM UTC
- Get your first 30 upvotes within 30-45 minutes, this can put you above those under 100
- Let it grow organically for an hours
- If you've reached 100 votes organically within an hour, don't touch it yet. If not, get your product to 100+ by using your resource
- As soon as you hit 200 votes mark, boost your product to 250
- Keep some votes for the last hour and pour them in during that hour to increase your rank
Can you expand on how to achieve number 2 please?
It's good to have some sort of your own early adopters community. Just send them a newsletter or post on Facebook. ;)
What Matt says.
It's a common practice to have a number of people on stand by.
@di_ry i think your time referance is wrong. Here is Product Hunt's official post;
Your "resource"?
What sort of "boost" do you refer to? Is this some kind of paid PH feature or are we talking voting ring manipulation of results?
By resource I mean people with accounts you have on stand-by
If you don't have any, you should consider it.
It usually takes at least one month to make accounts look normal and active so you need to start early.
Common practice is to ask all emplyees to register a couple of accounts using proxies.
This doesn't pass my ethical filter. Maybe PH isn't for me.
If your product is good you'll do fine regardless. Mediocre products need to cheat their way in.
Also, you can replace "resources" with otreach options and use them separately. for example email newsletter as part of your resource, then social media post as another part, and etc.
I've got a small, growing core of very engaged customers and I'm definitely not going to ask anyone to register multiple accounts (on any service) via proxies.
Of course not, the only way your customers can help is if they see your email or social media post stating that you've launched on Product Hunt, if they decide to support you – they will
Proxies are for people closely related, like employees.
