Looking for some insights: has anyone had success finding clients exclusively through cold emailing?

I know there are plenty of you guys out there who invested time into building an audience before launching, or found first users through getting involved in the right online communities.
But did anyone manage to build a list of clients purely through cold individual outreach over emails, etc?
Is there any advice you can share on this topic?
