Just Launched My First Side Project on Product Hunt
If you're not embarrassed by your MVP you've launched too late, isn't that what they say? With that in mind, tonight I decided to launch my very first product on Product Hunt: Twitticide. Twitticide is a webapp for sending self-destructing tweets that delete themselves after 24 hours, adding a SnapChat type quality to the Twitter experience. It's a pretty crude prototype that I whipped up over the past two days and figured, why not launch it right now? Anyway, hope somebody out there likes it!
UPDATE: Twitter took down the original app, but it's now back up at a new domain: twttrcide.com

For a long time, Product Hunt was kind of an insiders club and normal people couldn't even comment. Can anybody submit now or did you need some special connections to do that?

Thanks! You just have to be an active user for three days. I've been using it now for a week or two and try to check it out daily. One of the cool things about it is that the number of products posted everyday is a reasonable amount so I can usually read a quick description of every product posted that day.
Well, I'm getting too old for this sort of "ephemeral messaging" trend that's going on nowadays (SnapChat included) but I upvoted anyway! :)

Well Twitter cut off my apps "write-access," so it looks like the app is dead for now. Does anyone have any advice on how to get Twitter to remove my apps write restriction? I'm not sure why the app got shut down. I sent out like 20 promotional tweets last night using the app, so maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe they were a little bit spammy, but shut down over 20 lousy tweets? Still not sure what happened, or if there's anything I can do about it.
Okay well I think I figured out why my app got shut down. I sent out 20 sort-of spammy tweets with @mentions and that's why the app got shut down by Twitter. Luckily, all I need to do is create a new Twitter App using the mostly the same code I already have. However in this next version, no one is going to be able to include @mentions in their tweets ;)
Well it was a good effort. I've had really poor experience with Twitter dev offerings myself. Fortunately there are other APIs to try! I wonder if instagram would allow it.
