How to find marketing guru when there is no money, but well established business ?
Hey guys, I have not posted anything, but always read up on everything.
Long story short: we are a four year old company (with no investors) that have been doing pretty good (caught the right wave and delivered correct app). However, we were investing mostly in R&D, rather than marketing. I have good dev. team, but almost non existent marketing team.
Recently one of our partners cut off our API access and we lost 30% of gross income because of that (they don't want users such as our clients). Now we are in great deficit and I am investing my own money to pay salary. I can get back in revenue making era by letting go half of my stuff, but then we will be stuck in fixing bugs and not improving anything.
We are rolling out great features, but with exposure mostly to our old users. So my question is how to find a great marketing guru if I am unable to pay much at all ?

First of, you don't have "well established business" anymore. But it's great that you realize that and have an idea to fix that.
I would search big marketing communities like BAMF (check their facebook group). You can propose a rev share deal/commission since it's relatively clear how to setup KPI and measure performance. Figure what is the market rate for the service you wanna get, double that and put a performance milestone (f.e. brought revenue) to achieve that reward. Hopefully unit economics would work
