"Blind for neighbors" App | MVP Feedback
Hello fellow hackers,
I 'd like your feedback for my side hustle. I've been living in apartments and feeling disconnected from my neighbors. After seeing how Blind is used to create knowledge among coworkers, I wanted to try a similar idea for neighbors living in apartments.

I think it's a good idea. That said, I think a lot of neighborhoods use Nextdoor (mine does). You might be able to find a different but similar niche however.
I think people would rather something like that not be anonymous. The neighbors want accountability; to know who they're talking to.
The knowledge base concept is a good idea though.

I was aware of Nextdoor while building this. I talked to a couple of potential users and decided that Nextdoor is geared towards people living in single family houses or more generally people who own their own place.
I am specifically targeting people living in apartments. I am hoping that anonymity would lower the barrier for sharing without worrying about management oversight (not applicable if you own the place). I'd love to discuss rent hike, parking problems, noise issues. Hopefully people can utilize the collective information for their advantage. For example, on Blind, people share their offer packages and others can utilize such information while they negotiate offers.
The hard problem is to get people together to create the knowledge-base. In Blind's case, the number of companies is limited compared to number of apartments. The community is very segregated between many apartment communities. Broadening community definition, let's say towards neighborhoods, would move the app to Nextdoor's turf, which is not what I want.
This was a nice experiment though overall.
Ok, I see. Yeah I suppose that needs some thinking.
Maybe you could go around to different apartment buildings and offer to personally create a knowledge base for them? Do research into how Nextdoor got off the ground.
