how do you feel about jquery?
Hi Bob, it's a valuable tool, I don't think every project should start with something like Vue or React. Sometimes you just need jQuery and that's it.
At that point, why even use JQuery?
At what point?
If you're starting a new project as stated above why use JQuery? You can do everything that JQuery can do just as easily now with vanilla js. Which cuts down on load times and package size significantly.
Jquery has some simple animations and other convenient APIs for adding styles, selecting, etc. It's will also support older browser which vanilla JS will not do if you're looking to use newer APIs which mirror jQuery's functionality.
Not really true anymore, we have to support back to IE10 for client websites and there's not a lick of JQuery in our code base. Animation wise, using CSS animations and vanilla JS is way more effective then JQuery.
Legacy code. It's rare to move all at once, sometimes you'd have different libraries alongside.

I don't know of any specifics, but I feel like there are a ton of freelance dev jobs out there, many being frontend specifically. Finding GOOD frontend people I feel like is super hard, so if you are good and charge a decent rate I don't see you having any issues.

It is new and it is paid, that's why it's such an affordable entry rate. We want people who value their skills enough to pay a bit to be promoted. Rather than a free-for-all. Thanks for your feedback though!
Yeah that makes sense actually. The problem for me is that I don't know if it has any clients that would actually be interested in my skills or if there is any
client at all since it's a new platform.
Totally fair perspective, we are reaching out to companies directly letting them know of the service, so while yes its still small potential, we are working to improve that over the next 12 months. Hence the 12 month subscription.
The way I see it is you can not be on it and for sure not get a job from it, or you could be on it and potentially get a job from it. At the very least you'll get some exposure. You have to determine how much that "potential and exposure" is worth to you.
As a freelancer myself, I list myself as many places as I can. More exposure the better IMO. But that is just me.

Thanks again Micah. So people are already landing gigs or you'd say it's not there yet? I loved the idea.
I haven't been told by anyone that they have gotten any gigs from it yet (keep in mind it's only a week old). Secondly, I don't even really have a way to track potential leads as I'm not involved with tracking leads, I just help connect the clients to the contractors. Future versions of the site will include more of the functionality to track things but for the MVP we just help connect people and that's it.
