After 2 months of development, we have gathered all the courage to share our product with the IH community.
Recast Studio is a chrome extension which makes it simple to create videos from blog posts and web pages.
The main concept is to allow content writers, social media marketers, and agencies to repurpose their text content as video in a few clicks using predefined templates and intuitive tool.
Creating even a simple video based on images and text is a fairly complex process. There are many web apps which have certainly reduced the complexity but we believe there is still the scope to improve and chrome extension first step to make it more simple.
Currently, It has minimum features. We are gradually adding features based on customer feedback.
Very eager to hear thoughts of IH community. Please share your feedback/criticism.
Thanks
This is awesome!
I tried it out with my saas and would love to use it except that there is no way to remove your watermarks/branding, which is a non-starter for me. If there was a way for me to do that I would set my video that I already created live right now!
Also, being able to preview the videos immediately would be really desirable.
Nice work, you've already done a great job. 😬
Thanks @rlfrahm for the feedback.
Removing branding option is coming soon and you can add your own branding.
We will keep you posted on this.
Immidiate preview is something we have in our roadmap but to be honest this particular thing is little tricky and will take some time to be available.
Thanks again for your valuable feedback.
As soon as you can remove branding I will launch some videos. No hurry 👍
Awesome to hear. I kind of figured that doing a live preview was going to be tricky given how long it took your server to email my video... I just know that it's going to be one of the first things that people ask for.
Also, once the extension is installed, your api endpoint for
/projectsis being requested on every page that I visit regardless of whether or not I have the extension open. Seems like a bug?Hi @rlfrahm, We have launched the features to upload your own watermark and credit slide. Please let me know your username. I will upgrade you to PRO plan.
We also fixed the issue which was causing request on every page.
Thanks.
This is pretty good. Good job, Abhinav.
Thanks @primelabs
This looks pretty awesome! I think the format works well being a chrome extension too because you're right in the browser alongside the content. Smart. I ought to give this a try at some stage. I need a version of this for Twitter.
Are there many other tools around specifically for repurposing content? This is the first I've seen. Definitely a time saver though.
Hi James, Thanks for the feedback. We already have twitter in our road map where you can create a video from a twitter thread.
Could you please elaborate on twitter if you meant something different than our planned feature?
There are few tools for repurposing the content but none of them is a chrome extension and have different approach.
I mean repurposing blog posts into tweets themselves that can be scheduled.
Ok, go it. Sound and interesting idea. I am not sure if it fits into Recast as we are focusing on video content. Thanks for the reply.
Took a look and curious how this is different than Lumen5.com? Thanks!
Thanks for the reply Brian.
Lumen5 is a nice tool but Recast is different than lumen5 in number if ways.
First of all it is a chrome extension which can be used inline on the page from which you are creating a video.
Another main difference is the themes. You just need to create a storyboard with text and images and select a theme to be used in final video.
One more is the final video. Videos generated using Recast are more elements in terms of transitions and crossovers because of the theme concept.
Our future roadmap is also quit different from the exiting tools.
Hope I answered your question. Please let me know if I can help more on this.
Thanks
Very helpful, thank you. I look forward to seeing how it progresses.
