How does one go about finding a co-founder?
I have been working on my project by myself for 2 months and my biggest issue is that I don't have time to do all the things that need to be done.
I am especially laking on the visual side of things.
Someone recommended that I find a co-founder who could handle the visual and marketing side of thing...
That would be a huge help, but I honestly have no idea how to go about finding a co-founder... It sounds as easy as finding someone to marry...

Hi Ryan, I'm right there with you. I launched the first version of our product solo. I outsourced a lot of the work and almost lost my mind. I'm in the process of building out the second gen and found a partner, who recently received an offer that lured him away. I'm in Houston and have been attending networking events; however, finding a co-founder has proven to be the hardest part to date. I was thinking of perusing some of the co-founder "dating" sites. Have you tried any of them? Will be spending a lot of today looking for more resources.

just a comment about your site - on a high dpi monitor, the font/size combined with bright white background strains my eyes pretty harshly.

I have yet to go through a lot of these. I also suspect that since this post was added in 2010 some of the resources may no longer exist.

Finding a co-founder can always be a tricky one - not knowing people, trust, lack of control etc. Though obviously it brings in benefits also - another head to bounce ideas from, more resource and organization.
I'd recommend attending startup networking events, that way you can really get a feel for a person - though don't jump straight into it. Here in London, we have weekly events held by Google and agencies, just search for your city and 'entrepreneur meetups'. I'm sure you'll find something.

But that's such a limited pool to pick from... I live in Warsaw and there is rarely more than around 20 people attending these events each time. Plus 99% of attendees already have their own business to take care of.
Do people in London go to these events without already having a project and looking to join others as co-founders?

Well... i know what you mean, I'm weak on the visual side of things and I managed to find a co-founder and we pushed out https://seyoh.com together. Now to learn Rails i'm hacking away on https://habitrabb.it (ignore the landing page for now i haven't touched the stock one) making use of Andrew Culver's bullettrain.co and I'm doing it by myself. The difference is it comes integrated with a nice UI toolkit that already has beautiful CSS and plenty of example pages you can take inspiration from. IMO the latter approach has been fantastic for me shipping solo and I recommend to go as far as you can down that route before you hit the end of the road there and then if you need to you find someone.
I think you'll find that if you invest a little bit of time and or money into finding various solutions to problems that you can leverage you can go significantly farther on your own than you ever thought you could.

The problem is not so much that I don't know how to do the things. It's mostly that I lack the time to do them.
The technical side of things is already taking all my time, so I could really use another brain and pair of hands.
Yeah I feel you on that front. It's constantly frustrating to have months worth of stuff to do but only be able to get it done a few hours at a time. I totally understand where the whole VC funded thing comes from. I'm currently looking at which areas can be sped up for a bit of money.
