Invoicing tool for writers
I got an offer from a technology consulting and training company to write a paid blog post for them, and they ask if I can issue invoices.
Do you know any (free) invoicing tools that you would recommend for this case?

It's not specifically aimed at writers, but I'm a huge fan of Wave. Completely free for sending invoices.

Most invoicing software offer online payments. Your word template doesn't. The easier you make it to get paid, the faster you get paid on average.
I do have an invoicing software but I'm not plugging it. There were free options mentioned in here that offer online payments.
So not only is it faster to create the invoice through invoicing software, but you'll also get paid much faster on average than if you don't offer online payments. And it can be free.

I have to agree with you @thomasm1964.
As a writer myself I've experienced cheap clients and honest clients. The way you create your invoices doesn't matter at all to them.
The only reason I would switch to a different invoicing solution is if it costs less than what I'm using now (free) so you'd have to pay me technically LOL, or it's easier than what I'm using now and is worth my time to switch over.
Some clients are cheap, but most are just lazy. The harder you make it on them, the longer they will take to pay you. Also if a client actually is a bad payer, you can store their payment information on file and charge them directly. You can't do that with Word.
Who do you think gets paid faster, the contractor who sends an invoice with a link that opens a page with a single button to pay the invoice with a card or bank account on file, or the contractor who sends a Word document, which requires opening a PDF, pulling out a check book, writing a check, putting it in an enveloppe, putting a stamp on it, and then mailing it.
