How to get engagement on my post on Hacker News?

I posted a link about my new idea I'm working on. But in last three days, I didn't receive any reply to the post. Dont't know if the topic I posted wasn't interesting or the I'm missing something about the posting on HN.

I think HN is a place for news, not for "directly" attract customers. When I say "directly" I mean that you can do that "indirectly", like writing a medium article about the problem you are solving and post it on HN. In this way, people interested can subscribe after reading the article.

Tip: next time you post something you made, post it by prepending "Show HN: ".
It will put the post in the special "show" category.

There's still no guarantee that it will ever get traction. HN like Product Hunt, Reddit or other aggregators is a hit or miss. So many things get posted every day, only the top <5% gets all the traffic. Most often it's just a matter of luck, or posting at the right time when an influential user is there to browse and by chance upvotes you.

Also, if you are posting something to HN, make sure you are sending it to a place that can handle the traffic. I had a post hit #1 there for a blog on my own self-hosted site. The traffic took the Linode VPS I used at the time down for most of the time that the post sat in the top spot.

Thanks for the suggestion. I understood the concept and will write and post the article link next time.
