Reliable object storage solution
Hi indie hackers,
My tiny little bootstrapped SaaS needs a reliable and economical object storage solution. During development I used AWS S3 (free trial) and it was absolutely faultless, however, I don't think I can afford to go ahead with it after launch. I switched to DigitalOcean spaces ($5/month) but it has proven to be unreliable (unacceptable latency and poor availability). Keeping in mind that I'm still in development, I just can't trust DO Spaces for production.
What do you recommend? Got any success (or horror) stories?

DO has been a joke in my experience. I would never put a production website on it. But how is S3 expensive? Are you storing terabytes of video or something? You can store over 200gb of data for $5 per month on S3.
Thanks Laurent. That's storage only though, correct? The request costs are what concern me. Typical usage would see lots of PUT's from one type of user and a large multiple of GET's from lots of other users. At the moment we're only storing images but very soon it'll also be audio and much later, video.
But you're right, I'm not sure what the DO use case is because even under extremely light testing and development, it fails regularly. If there is no alternative, I will move back to S3.
Your other two options are Google Cloud and RackSpace. Cost out both of them. Google Cloud is often cheaper than AWS. But bandwidth is not free, and you have to charge accordingly.
