[Show/Ask IH] Web based private diary app
Hey!
I just released https://musepeach.com with minimal features for the moment. There is more work to be done but I’m trying to start getting feedback and interacting with users as early as possible.
If you keep a journal or not please check it out and let know your thoughts on the app or just the landing page.
Questions are more than welcomed.
I also have a question for you guys who keep a journal. What is your approach?

Maybe you could add some more information on how the journal is private. Does the server ever receive unencrypted journal contents?
Having a screenshot or demo would be cool. I'm not sure if this is the direction you're going in, but I liked the step by step "But...where to start?" section at the bottom – having some guidance on what to write and think is helpful.
Agreed on the screenshots. I never sign up for any service without understanding how it works. Too many accounts laying around haha.

I've been looking for a reason to ditch my written notebooks (it's too easy for other people to read them without my permission). I'm not sure if your service will be the best replacement for me, but I'm going to give it a try for a few days and give you my opinion. (As already stated by others, nice job with the UI).
To answer your question on my approach for writing a journal, I'll usually write about an eventful and/or emotional day that I just had. I might also randomly write poetry. I'm not sure if that answers your question though.

Do you have a set schedule on writing, like you try to write daily or just randomly, when you feel like it or something out of the ordinary happens?
I try and keep my schedule as loose as possible — I don't want to make it feel like a chore. I try and write at least twice a week, and often enough if I keep that up I end up writing every day sometimes.

I love your landing page. It is inspirational. You make it bigger than the act of private journaling. Private journaling is a means to a much more compelling end and you talk about the end as opposed to a list of journaling features. This made me read on.
I also liked how you showed snippets from media articles with their logos. This is super clever. I immediately assumed they were testimonials.
One piece of feedback: the section of "different journals for different goals" is overwhelming. I have trouble maintaining a single journal. Perhaps I am not your target market. After skimming that section, I felt like this site is for super hardcore journaling and not for casual journaling. If this is your goal, then don't mind me.
Nice point you make about the different journals section. The intent there is more to showcase options for somebody that is new to journaling, not to say that you have to do all of those.
But yes, I see you point, maybe reorganizing that section a bit wouldn't be a bad idea.

If the goal is to target users who are new to journaling or do it casually, then I'd inspire them like you do at the start and then talk about why they should use MusePeach over a Google doc or Wordpress.
My guess is that if someone reads your landing page, they already know they want to journal and have some idea of what they want to write about. They don't need to be convinced about the writing topics. They need to be convinced about MusePeach.

As for the app, some people will do it on paper obviously, but I think there are people who'd prefer an app for that. I think this will be a competitive space given how easy is to create a journal app.
But I have to compliment your landing page, I think is is pretty good, especially the text and the reasons you give potential users.
Thanks! Yes, it is a competitive space but I think there is always some room for improvements and maybe some new ideas and I'm hoping to get at that stage but for now I'm just looking to get a better understanding of the users.
Also, I look forward to the advantage of having a search function in a digital journal. Say I think back to a day I went to a park but I forgot the park's name, I can search "park" instead of trying hard to remember which exact day. That's how I organically remember things, by event nature rather than time of occurrence, so I think a digital version that supports such a functionality will be of great use!
