Appsumo is the seed round for bootstrapped companies (we made $177,429 in two weeks!)

A recap of how I (alone) made $177,429 in two weeks by launching https://www.botletter.com on Appsumo.

I'm here if you have any questions!

So you only got 1/3rd of the earnings? On top of that, you have 2700 users using your system? While you're right that it gives you a good amount of cash, you're also spending more on support, your tech stack, .... For users that probably won't spend any more money on your system. I wonder if it's really worth it?

Sure, but with a product with really low costs, this is a good way to get thousand users and improve your product. Then, it increases a lot word-of-mouth acquisition so you can easily get regular customers from it.

Yes, that is right. The creator gets around third of sales. This was mentioned on IH before few weeks ago.

Don't ask me, ask the OP :-) But yes, his article states that out of $177k, he got $53k, so that would mean Appsumo keeps 2/3rd of the total. I would assume this is for all Appsumo deals. It's just their (quite high) fee I guess.

Oh, you're right. The OP must have edited the article, but when I read it, it was stating that 52k was for them (so the rest is for Appsumo).

    Congratulations! 👏
Since, I assume, you did some research on this topic: you happen to have a retrospect of a product/company 1-2 years later? The injection of money might be nice short-term, but what are the costs long-term (architecture, support). And what are the the marketing gains long-term (testimonials? etc.)

My cost per additional user are really really low so that wasn't a huge problem for me. However, the goal is to double MMR in the next 6 months, using the injection of money for marketing.

I thought that AppSumo is pretty strict on support part - you alone with a help for few days by one person seems like a huge risk to AppSumo (you could got sick or something unexpected could happen, that would cause you to get offline).
Have you seen any change in sales through regular channels?

Yes, organic acquisition is increasing since more people are using it and talking about it I guess.
