Idea validation: Github for project management
I know there are a few prominent project management SaaS such as HelloBonsai, Atina, Paymo, etc.. But I feel like they are lacking in some features. In my experience, my clients always want to
- know project progress
- communicate with me on project problems / suggestions (this is especially true for software-based projects and we usually do it over Skype, email or phone calls)
- know what has been changed / done since our last meeting. Something like a changelog.
- have other freelancers to collaborate with me (not all the time)
My idea is a project management tool that lets clients take charge. Other PM tools are the other way around. I imagine it would be something like Github where I will have:
- issues as tickets
- releases as roadmap / changelog
- PRs as tasks
- owner of the repository as client
- collaborators as me and other freelancers
- whitelabel / non-whitelabel dashboard for clients
What do you think about this?
Hey @sammkj I agree with you on this... i've been on the hunt for the right project management system for years and tried almost all of the big ones out there and to me they are all very much the same... and most of the time each one is missing one feature that another has and none of them have ALL the features in one... so you have to end up using multiple tools ie Project Status vs Time Tracking vs Issue Tracking (Github integration) vs Gaant Charts vs Kanban boards... I want to start my own one day but it's a huge job...
