Positioning is the Part of “Product Market Fit” You’re Likely Ignoring
If your positioning is wrong, your marketing will fail.
And if your marketing fails, you’ll fail in general, because you won’t have a repeatable, scalable acquisition channel.
We’ve learned this lesson time and time again, with our own businesses, and with clients’ businesses. So we wanted to finally share our thoughts on this.
Hopefully this helps people from making some of the same mistakes we have!
Questions/comments welcome.
Love the examples. At the end, you talk about how positioning and messaging aren't the same thing. Really, is positioning the umbrella underneath which all marketing strategies would go?
Positioning is how you want your customers to perceive the value that you offer. Messaging is how you communicate that value to them.
So yes, positioning is the umbrella underneath your entire marketing strategy. You need to nail that before you can do anything else.
