Additional ways to use email list of interested users?

Hi :)

I was lucky enough to get my project (https://landing.mealpreplist.com) indirectly on the frontpage of the relevant subreddit recently and gathered a few emails of interested users.

I always planned to just send development and feature updates over that list but I also would really love to know why people found the project interesting, what kind of features they want and what they feel is missing.

Do you have any experience with opening a feedback channel with your email subscribers? Do people generally appreciate a request-for-feedback email? If so, what format did work out for you... survey? Just state questions and ask them to respond to my mail?
