How did you raise angel funding ? Planning to raise ~200K for an AI startup

My MVP is coming along, but slowly. Hope to actively start courting angel investors in 2-3 weeks.
Whats your story ? How did you get the initial funding for your startup ?
Based on the East Coast.
So far, I have run the idea and execution details with 5-10 friends/acquaintances, but have not contacted any investors.

I am in the middle of this. I started months ago by emailing investors and asking for advice. I have kept up with them and will reach out mid year to raise a round.

Ask for money, you'll get advice. Ask for advice, you'll get money.

    Hey @Gong πŸ‘‹

This is actually a problem we're looking to solve (getting early-stage funding) at https://nestround.com.

We're in beta but looking to launch in two weeks, send me a messaged at nick@nestround.com and il get you into the beta ASAP.

Thanks for letting me know @nickfisher πŸ˜…

The website won't be functional for a few days, we're busy preparing the dashboard for the beta testers but I will add this to the list 100%.

It will be a lot easier to do fundraising if you have a tiny bit of traction, and a finished mvp. One way to make your mvp come along faster is by making it more M(inimal). Some good advice I received recently that helped me finally launch was that "if you are proud of your mvp you're doing it wrong". Just ship something tiny first and I think it will be much easier to find angels.

Throw up a landing page with an email capture, post on some A.I. related forums and get a few signups.

Thanks, do you have any AI forums in mind ?

I'll save you a bunch of time. Walk me through what your product does, your metrics (customers, channels, retention, mrr, etc) and I'll tell you what to do.

Angels (that you don't already know) have very little interest in writing a check. If you know any angels they might write a check based on you for a small figure (maybe 25k). But dont get your hopes up.

If you could put together 3-4 of those angels you might scrape together 100.

But on angels you don't know, they're going to want to either see the numbers that its working or really love the product. Pick one of those two if you have to go down that route and optimize the hell out of it.

You are right - need to build on my MVP, however minimal.
I do know some angel syndicates, but need to also get in touch with the ones I don't.

just put your head down and build a real business. angels won't help much.
