Ask IH: craftsman vs cafe owner ?

Hey everyone,

I have been struggling recently to figure out whether I should be a maker or should I get back to what I know best ie. programming.

In order to make this decision, I used the below analogies (picked up from podcasts/blogposts)

• Craftsman ~ Freelancer/Consultant
• Cafe Owner ~ IndieHacker

and crafted a few questions which might help understand whether I am a Craftsman or a Cafe Owner.

• Do you get overwhelmed when things are not planned before hand ?
• Do you get bored easily ?
• Do you reduce outside variables as much as possible ?
• Do you like to speak to people ?
• Do you wait for an external authority to tell you what to do ?

I am looking for some more questions which will help me to gain clarity in taking a decision.

PS: A little context - I have worked remotely for 2 years as a RoR developer. Once that contract ended, I took some time off to build a community for people working remotely in India, and a side project which converts JSON to chart image urls.
