Stealing a concept is fine, or every car manufacturer in the world is guilty of stealing from Benz. Without it, we'd have no competition. Stealing design is more complicated - duplicating unique design elements is likely to infringe copyright.

Honestly?

I wish him the best. It's naive to think that 'copying' is cheating because in theory it's fast. It isn't. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and a long time to even copy a product. People equate the required effort with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V because that's their experience of how long it takes to copy something. They have never attempted to copy a product.
