Ask IH: Should I start freelance coaching/mentoring?

I've been freelancing for over a decade now and recently started writing about it at freelanceafterfive.com. After doing so, I started to get emails asking for more (and more...) help. I'm usually willing to help so I do just that, help.

These emails threads started to get pretty lengthy, to the point I was considering a slack channel or something similar... This kinda sparked the idea to do some "coaching" despite how I usually laugh at the abundance of people "coaching" nowdays.

Just curious to get some thoughts on if it's worth it. At this point I have over a dozen people I'm emailing back and forth, it literally took up all my writing time.

There are two things that you can do, right off the top of my head.

    1. Reply to people saying "It takes time to understand provide feedback to such specific questions, so I charge a $RATE. Please let me know if you'd like to get my inputs on your personal situation"
    2. Start a Forum, encouraging people to post there, and help each other out, with you helping them out too. Get some SEO juice from this, or make it a paid membership. If it's not paid, you can advertise your coaching on the site, with higher rates than the previous mentioned $RATE.
