Ask IH: Best two column(horizontal layout) design or alternatives ?

Hi guys I'm running a site https://www.fibretiger.co.za - a fibre comparison service. (main utility of site) I want to add more emphasis on NEWS articles also. Problem is, I want to when the user lands on the homepage already present him with SOME news and SOME fibre comparisons to showcase usage of site.

Are there any good "designs/patterns" to showcase TWO things at once ? I was thinking just two horizontal column layout ?
