Can't figure what I did wrong/right.

WOODnTIMES

Hi all - Just finished a FREE plus shipping campaign. Ran it on Instagram, FB and Adwords Express over 4 day weekend and not one sale. As an 83 YO newbie it gets really discouraging. Trying everything I could think of. Weeks before that I ran a Free Watch giveaway with a $50 purchase, again NO sales. Have this site up for 7 months now and only a few sales .Since I live on a fixed income I can't keep spending ad money and about give it up. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

83 and shipped an ecom? You're a beast and inspiration, Stan.

What made you pick this particular niche? Any indications that this was a profitable or especially interesting trend to focus on?

Fashion is such a finicky and over-saturated industry and it's easy to be too late or early with a trend. I've seen wooden glasses blow up in recent years so it kinda feels like a fad.

Have you tried any other type of marketing? So much of fashion marketing is done thru influencers, often on Instagram or Youtube but you need a solid product to cut through the noise that these influencers experience every single day.

How about additional sales channel? Not just online marketplaces like Etsy or Ebay but physical stores and what not. If these are novelty items, maybe focus on places where novelty a key experience factor. Like fairs, cons or farmer's markets.

The online store has issues that need to be addressed, such as the logo, the blurry background images, the disorganized layout below Featured Collection, the lack of info on the Who We are page, etc.

    Hi Stan,

Do you know how many hits you got from your ad campaign?

Did you get loads of hits but no conversions?

Or did you get no hits?

    Hi Stan 👋

I'm definitely no expert on wood fashion products (or fashion products in general) and I'm not your target market, so don't take my feedback for expert advice. But I'm sharing my thoughts in case you find anything useful:

    • Who are you targeting? Who is your target market?
    • Your website's description: the copywriting feels a little weak. Especially the end "Style and flair for sure."
    • At the bottom of your website, I read "WOOD PRODUCTS FOR FUN AND FASHION", and I feel like fashion people would take their fashion more seriously than "fun". Are you sure fun and fashion both fit the market you're trying to target?
    • "KIDZ stuff" - Does your target market really spell it as "kidz"?
    • Black text on header image isn't very readable.
    • Blue logo on the header makes for a horrible contrast to the black/white style/quality of your website. It's also just kind of a bad logo. If you would replace it with just bold, strong text "WOODnTIMES" (google "hipster logo generator") I'm convinced you'll score better with your fashion audience.
    • The text "WELCOME GUESTS" is too small.
    • When I Google for the brands you're offering, I get Aliexpress results for cheap Chinese products. I have no hard feelings against (cheap) dropshipping, and it could be that your target market doesn't care (or doesn't care to Google), but make sure that you understand what value you're trying to offer. It could be as simple as being a US company that guarantees delivery - but make sure you understand what audience you're targetting.

Those are my thoughts on just the webpage. Hope it helps to get you started.

Also, products like these does quite well on social media. You can generate quite a lot of organic traffic. In your case, I’d actually start with Pinterest. You don’t need amazing photos and it’s really easy to get started as you don’t need a huge following to generate massive traffic.

There are many good articles on how to get started. The article below is aimed at travel bloggers, but I recommend you read trough it anyway. There’s a lot of good advice there.

    Hi Stan,

Are you buying advertising to that page or are you buying advertising to specific product pages? What do your ads look like? Who are you targeting in your ads?

It could be very discouraging anyway, no matter how old you are! But I completely understand you.
I don't know this market so I can't give you any advice. I just suppose that probably you don't know your customers well, therefore you didn't gain them. Another thing is the price. When I tried to find some wooden watches for my SO, I ignored all brands with the price lower than $150, I thought they could not be good, would look cheap etc. I know it's rather a psychological moment but try to think this way.
Yeah, one more. Probably you would better remove your photo from your site or put another one. There is no name, people wouldn't trust noname somebody. If you want to put some personal information put cool photos related to wood and wooden stuff, your name, story etc. If you don't have one, keep anonymous.
    Good luck.

I thought the «83» was a typo, but that is damn inspiring mister! I think you have a pretty unique story there in it self. Maybe you could try to “exploit” that angle and pick up some media coverage?

I’m sure many blogs and news outlets would love to pick up this story. You really have the potential here to inspire a lot of people to get started themselves.

Personally I’d love to learn more about Stan 😊
