4 questions about your belief in content marketing

Hi hackers,
Answer all or any if you don't mind!

  1. How often do you write content?

  2. Do you believe that interlinking content and using researched keywords in blog posts effects search rankings?

  3. What is the dollar price you would put on an article written by someone with experience in your field or product.

  4. Would you trust someone else to write about your service/product?

You've probably guessed I've got a product idea and I'm looking for validation. Basically, back in the day I used to work for a digital agency. They would charge $2000 a month to their clients for 4 articles a month. Our agency would spend about $20 over at textbroker to get a badly written piece. Then I would totally rewrite and SEO it. 20 articles a day. It was a bad process and I lost a lot of faith in agencies and content marketing.

On the other hand, I got awesome at writing content for a huge variety of clients. I believe it could be done better and at a larger scale.

  • Write good content from the start
  • Dedicated writer per client. The writer should understand the field
  • Unique content written by a copywriter who speaks geotargeted language naturally
  • SEO content that isn't solely dependent on keyword density
  • A smooth backend where content is permanently stored as HTML and pretty text versions.
  • Zapier integration to allow automated marketing
  • Stripe subscription to turn on and off service without agency contract
  • Does not cost as much as a full agency with typical agency overhead

Could you use something like this? Or should I take this idea out to the street because tomorrow is garbage collection and my can isn't full yet.

My startup experience differs from what I experienced before as marketing executive.

    1. How often do you write content?

We planned to write 1-3 articles per week, but now write less than 1 per month. Bootstrapping => no time for "important but not urgent".

    1. Do you believe that interlinking content and using researched keywords in blog posts effects search rankings?

The latter definitely does, if there is enough search traffic in the industry (semrush is a great tool for keyword research and tracking competitors).

    1. What is the dollar price you would put on an article written by someone with experience in your field or product.

We could afford around $70-100 per article (given current conversions). We're in Russia -- everything, including writing, is relatively cheap.

    1. Would you trust someone else to write about your service/product?

Now we're not letting anyone write for us, but that's probably a wrong approach. Your idea ("Write good content from the start. Dedicated writer per client. The writer should understand the field") seems nice.

    Good luck!
