Sharing website asking for a feedback

long time lurker and a long time builder here.
I'd like to publish my latest project which I build for few years now.
It's a website to share things you own or skills you have with a group of your friends. You can also ask for a thing or a service if none of your friends has that published in a list of offers.
The goal is to save space, environment and money, because not everybody needs to own expensive equipment to use it once a year. It's imho better to meet with a friend, borrow it for some time and then return that thing back. It keeps stuff utilized, friends close a money unspent.
I am using it with a group of my friends and everybody likes the idea, however the traffic is quite low, maybe because of UX, or maybe it's because those moments you need something are not that often. I don't know.
I'd like to ask you for a feedback, thoughts about the idea or any kind of comment.

I would really recommend trying to work on a better home page that explains/showcases the tool.
There are dozens of templates and landing page builders you could use to get one together in one day or less.

Hmm. Maybe a few things.
First. You likely need a pic or two, something very light like two people exchanging an item.
Second: I'd simplify the "how it works"on the landing page. "You ask for a power drill . A friend borrows you his. When finished, give it back"
That might avoid the mechanical-sounding "you mark the item as checked", which sounds like a chore to avoid.
And with that, maybe a bit off a focus as well. "We're a tool for borrowing tools (and other objects) from friends."
Third: the site seems barren. If I have no friends (most people won't have any), how can I do anything with it? If I call a buddy because I need that power drill, I'm just gonna ask for a drill right away, not for him to go to some website.
So maybe you need that first step for creating activity.
"Need to borrow a tool, but don't know which of your friends has one? Write them a short note about it and we'll ping you if someone offers the tool". Then let me add a few addresses in. Let me enter the tool that I need. Press send. Now if I already had a circle of friends, that step might change into "look for a tool", if the joint inventory of my friends looks big enough for a search.
So maybe that one workflow would be a thing that starts the movement.
