Hi guys,

Check out the landing page for site ottom8.co, it is still in development but would like to gauge some feedback on whether I have got the message across!

Also any feedback regarding the best approach to getting user signups would be appreciated!

Hi @gb4de, I think you can do some changes, to improve your page, something like:

    • Change the logo or remove the line under the a tag.
    • Add shadow to text, and change text in black to lighter color maybe to gray!
    • Pricing section needs to have a container, I think this section should not be in full width.
    • Remove menu button if there are no sub-menu in mobile view.
    • Make sure all css and js files can be loaded correctly.

    Good luck :)

Hi @gb4de, I might be repeating someone here but what about making package difference easier to spot?

To me, the thing that is missing is the pain point you are addressing? Why would I want to automate my property search? To the majority of people choosing where to live is an infrequent and high impact decision, possibly not the most obvious candidate for automation.

How can you help visitors understand the pains that automating the search will address?

Most people are commenting on the visuals, which may need some work. However, I think the improvement that dwarfs all the visual improvements is probably going to be better identifying your target customer. Who is this for? Potential commercial landlords? People buying individual housing units? What advantages does this have over working with an individual agent? You should say explicitly who your customer is so people who land here know if this is for them or not.

      Hi @vwoo,

Thanks for cutting to the heart of the issue, the user! I agree that the messaging needs to be far more explicit here to avoid confusion, I will work on that!

    1. I don't like the way you used an illustration as a background image for some sections. Usually, if the illustration carry a message, it's better to be one sided only. The other side should be for textual content. At least, use an overlay to increase readability of the content.

    2. Typography needs some work. Your current font doesn't look nice when it's font-size and font-weight are both increased. Probably better to use another font-family for heading tags.

    3. Use a linear icon font for your features section and add a transition property for mouse hover.

    4. In pricing section, I would say you need a container and extra vertical space.

    5. The right side of footer is empty. You can put content in left side and menus in the right side.

I see these pictures at least 10 times starting from Jan, 1st. I would put something rarer than free illustrations that EVERY landing page uses.

      Thanks Zencentric,

So I have actually had this site up since October last year so it may be that things have caught up! I see these illustrations a lot as well but I think it is a general maker community trend and hasn't propagated throughout the web yet, especially not in England.

I will take it on board though :)

You shouldn't care about the "maker community", you only should care about your potential users' community.
        Good luck.

Just to be clear on this, I was stating that you might think you see it on every landing page because you are in the maker community and as such are likely to spot this trend more often. Whilst in the context of the wider world i.e my potential users who are in the uk property market, it is likely not common. Thanks :)

            it is likely not common
I got your point. But the problem is almost every new startup uses the same illustrations so any community will recognize them sooner or later.

The text and CTA in the hero area is really hard to read and see. Text readability and an obvious CTA are way more important than that illustration. https://cloudup.com/cOFRsQEkTth

I'm in the US, so it may be different than in the UK, but I wondered who it was for because of the word "property". Is this for land? Residential? Commercial? Etc.

Hi @BenGrace, thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the CTA, I agree with you on this point, it should be nice and obvious to see. I guess the colour can almost camouflage the lettering if you don't focus on the text...will update.

So in the uk property with regards to dealing with Estate agents is Residential. This might be a just a British thing as the people I have shown this to in person do not seem to mistake it for anything but that. However, I will take this on board as it is important to spell these things out. Thanks!
