Ask IH: Need feedback for our API SaaS landing page

Hey Indies! as a developer myself, I have had this idea for a while:

Laystack: Templating as a Service

Now I published a draft of the Landing Page

https://www.laystack.com/

What do you think of it at first glance? Is our value proposition clear?

Would appreciate if you honestly let me know what you think about it and what should I change.

Thanks!

Hey @benoror, the site seems to be down..

Oops, sorry, I moved to it's own domain, can you try again?: https://www.laystack.com/

It would be very interesting to implement it in our electronic clinical solution https://www.compuexpediente.com/ thanks for sharing.

Interesting, had the same idea from our project: Nimbo https://www.nimbo-x.com/

Hey @benoror landing page looks great, would like to see more examples as GIFs or as video.

    All the Best.

Thanks @sasi513! Would you like to see an explanation video? Or a prototype of the actual product?

I'm actually at a point where it's easier for me to hack a live online demo to showcase it (you can see the "coming soon" in the page). Would that be cool?

so, you make invoices with an api?

    1. 1

Customized Invoices are a great use-case for the API. But I imagine it could be used for others, such as: Medical Prescriptions, Reports, Personalized E-Cards, ...

I agree that there needs to be screenshots etc, but I'm guessing they'll be live at some point in the future.

Instead focus on why I need this - specifically the benefits and the emotions.

A dope technique is to mine language and common expressions with emotional trigger words from Amazon reviews.

Look for books similar to Laystack's templates (maybe something along the lines of Photoshop, Microsoft Office, small business etc).

Hey Chris, dope question! I'll try to answer with my history/reasoning first for the need of this product:

      Reasoning

I'm the CTO of a EHR SaaS for LatAm: www.nimbo-x.com. One of the main requests from physicians is the ability to use their own Prescriptions Designs. Obviously we can't convert/hand-design every customer's prescription design. To mitigate this, we offered some pre-designed prescription templates.

Nevertheless, lots of physicians still would like the ability to re-use or design their own prescriptions (for branding, ego, ...), which they usually have in good ol'paper or MS Word form.

This is primary use-case for Laystack. But I imagine it could also be used for other use-cases, such as: Invoices, Reports, Personalized E-Cards, ...

      Answering 'Why?' pitch / bulletpoints

      • Everyone has an [ego, branding] reason for having customized documents

As a developer, fulfilling that need requires complex UI/UX

Leverage template management & conversion through our API (and later-on, embedded UI designer, pre-built templates catalogs, etc)

What do you say, does that makes sense? Wold you tune up the pitch somehow?

Here's an example of a medical book aimed at Doctors: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Doctor-Hope-Medicines-Computer/dp/0071849467/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1535540101&sr=1-7&keywords=doctor#customerReviews

Read through the reviews and look for common phrases, positives, negatives and emotions.

For example "dangerous", "deeply concerned", "the patients I care for", " pen and paper days of medical record" etc.

You can then incorporate this use of language by your target demographic in the copy of your landing page.

Similarly, you can multiple landing pages that are each specific to one group of customers. e.g. A landing page for doctors, another for pharmacies, one for dentists etc.

An additional tip is to complete the phrase "I want". So if you're looking to join a community like IndieHackers, then you may type into Google: "I want to network with SAAS startup founders".

So the landing page should be: "Network With SAAS Startup Founders"

In your case, you might use something like: "Easy Way to Design, Customise & Print Prescription Pads"

If you're using A/B testing tools then you'll be able to test different messages, tone etc until you find the best combination for that group of customers (dentists will be influenced by a different style of writing to doctors etc).

One final tip is that with bullets, headlines and general copy, try to use this formula: thing + benefit + emotion.

However, if your customers are mostly female, then focus on emotion more than anything else.

For males, go for the technical terms and features opposed and a little less emotion.

Thanks Chris, that make sense! Sorry, one last question: My target market are the Developers who are building those apps, not the end-users themselves. Should I adjust the copy to target just those? Like:

Let your users personalize their [docs/...] to make their brand stand out....

Let your users [save time/customize] ....

          Thanks!

          1. 2

If that's the case, then I would test three variants:

            1. One focused on benefits to their users
            2. One to highlight the benefits to both devs and their users
            3. One completely focused on devs

My guess is that option 3 will have the highest conversion rate, particularly if you mine Amazon reviews from books about learning to code, running a SAAS etc.

    Down for me too. 😞

Just got around to looking at it. Looks good to me. I think you described the service and it's features and benefits well.

    Site does indeed seem down.

Without the site to explain, "Templating as a Service" doesn't really tell me much. Perhaps something to consider!
