Feedback on landing page & MVP, please? ScheduleThatEmail.com

Thank you so much!

It's https://schedulethatemail.com/ - a mini-tool for Gmail I've built a year ago, and have been using for the past year. It saves me ~4-5 hours every week, so I really believe in its potential, but sadly I have invested zero time in it since day one. I'm doing that now, but I'm having a hard time communicating its benefits, to get beta users. Most of the feedback I'm getting is "this doesn't seem interesting to me", "I don't think I'm part of the target audience" etc.

(1) Any ideas on how to improve the landing page? To better communicate its benefits?

(2) Do you think the product is ready for beta users? I would love to do a redesign in tabler for it to look modern, but I can't justify that, since it doesn't really have a lot of users to request that. Not sure if design is holding it back.

(3) Any ideas where to start getting users for a product of this nature? I've built this for myself, not with an audience in mind, but I believe a good audience for it would be indie hackers / freelancers / small entrepreneurs / managers. I've never catered to them before - my main audience consists of PHP / Laravel developers.

Any thoughts you have towards anything will be well-received. Feedback has been sparse.

Thank you!

P.S. Long time lurker, first time poster. Excellent community here - I've learnt a lot from you guys over the past year.

I'd replace that screenshot with some list view from a scheduler, if you have that. Right now that screenshot is about sales.

Actually, you could think of a demo right below the fold: "Send me a invite [tomorrow 9am]" where the [ ] part can be changed. I think that would be quite funny for a demo.

Hmm... now that you mention it... it's pretty obvious... Yes, there should be a demo as far up top as possible.

I can actually re-create the form there. So that people can type their first email right then and there, pick a schedule and everything. When they hit "Save", it would ask for Gmail login, then actually save the email to be sent. That would reduce the time-to-wow by A LOT.

      Thanks a lot @TomK32!

Great, let me know when it's done.

I find the landing page to be quite neat and clutter-free, communicating the whole concept and its usefulness clearly. All the best! :)

As someone who forgets to send lots of follow-ups or even reply back which ends up costing me leads, sales, etc. here's something that would be helpful for me...

Also not sure if you're looking for product advice but I don't think anyone has this feature:

When I'm about to send or schedule an email, have a thing pop up that asks me if I want a reminder to follow-up IF I get no reply. Because the thing with all these services is that even if I do schedule follow ups, it messes up my flow because I forget I've scheduled a follow-up for a contact who has already emailed me back. It's no bueno.

    I hope this helps.

    1. I think this 6 examples is too much. I would have it 3 or ditch that section alltogether. For FAQ, you could probably use some accordion.
I feel there is a bit too much stuff on the landing page. For example "Works on any browser, any device." is pretty much expected for web page. You really need to focus on your main thing, and that is "We send email, you say when" or something like that.

    2. Product is ready if you have basic functionality working.

    3. Maybe some productivity hack websites? I'm not expert on this field.

Overall excellent work, keep it up :)

Can I do the following thing:

    1. Send an email with body
    2. Send an email to same recipient 30 minutes later. This second email should land in the same thread/discussion on gmail

    Would that be possible?

    1. 1

Hmm... no, you wouldn't be able send follow-up emails in the same email thread - haven't had this need myself. Why do you need to do that, for follow-up?

    I have a email reminder product DearEle.com

I have a question, is it not corporates who need this kind of service? And many corporates are not based on gmail? How will your product work for them?

    1. 1

Wow - DearEle looks very very similar to ScheduleThatEmail - glad to talk to others that are trying to solve the same problem. Would love to share experience.

In short - it won't work for non-Gmail users. It's only for Gmail and Google Apps. But it's built in such a way that it would be possible to add Outlook, Yahoo, or even custom SMTP to it. But I want to confirm that people actually have a use for this, and like it, before I put in more time to accommodate those needs. I built it to scratch an itch, and I use Google Apps - hence the restriction.

One thing DearEle doesn't have and I really wanted was the ability to send emails from my email address, without people even knowing the email is automated. In my experience, that's what's had the best response rate. Plenty of people think I'm a machine for being so consistent with emails - I love that, and I think ScheduleThatEmail users would too. I'm even considering adding a "fuzzy send" feature, so that the email isn't sent at the same time, every time, so that it looks more personal, along with a few other features that would help. That's why I didn't go for "email in CC" or "email in TO" implementation, like you did. I think sending emails on my behalf is crucial.

Would love to pick your brain on DearEle.com
      (1) When did you launch?
      (2) Could you share how many users you have? Or the revenue you're making? I understand if you won't.
      (3) What did you use to get users?
      (4) Are your users committed/happy? How many of them keep using the product after 1 month / 6 months / 1 year?

      Cheers!

DearEle.com is primarily email reminder for followup activities, where as schedulethatemail is to send email on a particular time.

My actual plan for DearEle.com is to make a digital secretery, complete language analysis example: user can also send a email with body in plain English like

        Dear Ele,
        Remind me on Dec 1st.
Or Remind me when there is a weather alert in my area.
Or Remind me when Twitter stock/bitcoin goes below a particular value.. etc..

Language analysis need alot time to make it stable so I limited DearEle.com to only email reminders for now.

Later I found there is a successful competitor in email reminder domain ex:- followupthen.com ( the email animation idea in the landing page I shamelessly picked from there).

Dearele is released a month back. No marketing other than Producthunt. Currently close to 200 users, no paid users I gave it away free.

You can ask me what ever you like to know about DearEle or other.

Thanks a lot for the info, @prakis! No further questions right now, might follow-up after I gather more information.

Your digital secretary idea sounds great - I'd definitely pay for that. It's something that I find disappointing in Siri and Google Home - lack of functionality. I'd love it if you could tap into that, for me to actually "ask" the secretary to do stuff for me :-) Just my 2 cents.

I think IHers are more likely to want to send transactional e-mails so would need and API (HTTPS endpoint) to call. [Send Welcome email now] [Send free trial is ending email in 14 days]

Furthermore, I would have a use case that requires your server to query my database periodically [Who hasn't been active for 7 days?] then [Send Nudge email].

    1. 1

Hmm... That might be true for technical IHers, but that wasn't my intention with this product - to help them send transactional emails from their products. It was to send emails on a fixed schedule, from their personal Gmail address.

In my mind, if you can code something that needs an API or HTTPS endpoint, you can code the email sending itself - it's a few hours of work in most frameworks, and then zero cost each month. I'm personally very happy with SparkPost for transactional emails and I know people who love SendGrid & PostMark for that. I don't see what I could do better than them, to be honest...

I could be wrong on this, of course. Eager to find out if this is something more people would need. Please reply if so.

Hello Cristian, it's nice to see others from Romania here.
Regarding your MVP, have you seen my open thread https://www.indiehackers.com/forum/pro-bono-ih-free-webappsec-testing-fb5bc6e18d ?

Thanks for the offer @Retronym! I'll take you up on that :-)
