Feedback on our City Exploration App
Hi IH community!
I'm Milan from Roam, yeah that's not a typo nor am I Italian :)
I've lived / spent a lot of time in multiple cities across Europe. Now, I'm living in New York. I love exploring city on foot. I believe that is the best way to expreience it. I believe most people are like that. When visiting a new city, I believe most of us had 'better' experience when we were given tips by locals (or our friends in town) where to go and which road to take to get there, often avoiding the beaten paths. When I was that friend in town I always gave very detailed instructions on where my friends should go and exactly which streets to take. When faced with limited time in the city people appreciate this. I really tried to 'maximize' their experience given the constraints :)
At Roam my co-founder (Brennan) and I were set a year and a half ago to address that and this May we've released our Beta on Apple Store: Roam Vancouver
We are aiming to help visitors to:
- Discover recommended walking routes near by for a quick-start
- Explore walking routes in the neighborhoods they want to visit
- Customize their walking routes by searching for other places in the area
- Get simple transit instructions to guide them to their route
- Walk the routes - navigate between places and find other things on the go
- Keep list of favorite walking routes and save their own to use them later
We chose to make this version of the app only for Vancouver, targeting visitors that have a very limited time in the city.
Brennan being a Vancouverite created initial set of routes collecting recommendations from friends, city insider and Tourism Vancouver.
While we are busy making changes for new version. I'd really like to know what you think?

Disclaimer: The App might not give the best UX if your are outside of Vancouver (certain feature are GPS location sensitive,)
