What is the best digital content e-commerce stack?

I have a business model I've used on a really small niche that works fine, but I am doing all sorts of work arounds because I used a website builder and the other tools I used like my payment processor weren't the greatest choices in hind sight. I am considering revisiting / replacing some of those choices with ones better suited to this type of business. What sort of stack do you all recommend for a website that is selling proprietary digital content with a small amount of ads or affiliate revenue? Would also love to know why you like the particular tools you recommend?
