What are some examples of local web projects that add value to your city?
I use to run a local entertainment forum, and have been wanting to do something fun with the domain (City: Halifax, Domain: halifamous.com) for awhile.
Some ideas:
- Best of the city w/ various entertainment related categories
- Curated entertainment listings
- Monthly contest w/ local partners + charity
- Showcase of the best local products made in the city
Would love to hear about any local sites/apps that are adding value to your city that could also potentially generate a small bit of monthly revenue.
I started a local job board for Dallas specific tech jobs. I really haven't put much effort into it (zero effort in past 12 months), even at launch. I know it could be good and useful, because Dallas is a good city for tech job and companies.

In Houston we have a yearly hackathon for civic tech.
