Ask IH: Help me decide if I should do this.

Hey Folks,

TL-DR: Should I try to start a side project in a crowded market and make something that competes against Upwork or Freelancer.com even in a really small scale?

So basically my problem is as a twenty years old college student who's curious about business and creating something that has a value I decided to start building my own side project.

but I didn't have problems at all to solve or at least not technical wise because I obviously don't have enough experience to know what to change.

but then I remembered that I really struggled before working as a freelancer and as a client in websites like Upwork or Freelancer and how pretty broken these marketplaces could be SOMETIMES.

so I thought ' Hey, maybe there's something to do here. ' so I started reading a lot of articles about why people dislike these websites and found out that some of these things could be solved easily they just wouldn't do it because it means less revenue.

and I just don't know if I should start something small like these or will I get absolutely crushed? will this ever be a waste of time? should I just not do it ? in your experience reaching would out to new startups would get a response from them and they would actually try it out?
