Five days ago I launched Ship It in 7 - a 7-day challenge for non-developers to build and ship a product using Claude Code. I'm a PM with 20+ years experience in cybersecurity, not a developer. I built this because every Claude Code resource out there is made by developers, for developers. None of them teach the business side - finding an idea, writing a spec, packaging, pricing, launching.
Here are the real numbers:
What went well:
- Reddit r/nocode: 97K views, 85% upvote ratio, #1 on the sub for 2 days
- Reddit r/ClaudeAI: 33K views
- The topic clearly resonates. People engaged hard with the "product thinking matters more than coding" angle
What didn't convert:
- 130K+ Reddit views turned into ~7 Gumroad visits from Reddit (Gumroad links are banned on Reddit, so most traffic goes through a redirect and shows as "direct")
- 55+ total Gumroad visits from all sources. Single digit sales.
- The people engaging on Reddit are developers and AI power users - they already use Claude Code. They're my peers, not my buyers.
The ICP problem I'm solving right now:
My actual buyer is someone who has never opened a terminal. They have a product idea but think building is for developers. They're not on r/ClaudeAI or AI Twitter. They're searching Google, watching YouTube beginner tutorials, reading newsletters.
So I've pivoted my distribution:
- YouTube comments on beginner Claude Code videos (11 comments so far, already seeing Gumroad visits from YouTube)
- Quora answers on "how to build an app without coding" type questions (6 answers with direct links)
- Dev.to article published today (repurposed the Reddit post that got 97K views)
- Newsletter outreach and power user DMs planned for this week
What I'm asking you:
I'd love your honest feedback. The product is at https://buildedge.gumroad.com/l/ship-it-in-7
- Does the listing convince you to buy? If not, what's missing?
- Is $49 the right price for this package?
- What would you do differently to reach non-developers who want to build but don't know where to start?
I'll share an update in 2 weeks with what worked and what didn't.
