“Ensure value is delivered first, before paywalls.” I don't remember where I read it, but it might be one of the most accurate sentences I've ever seen.
We send out newsletters to our community of over 8,000 people every week.
We have a mostly eCommerce-related community and we started a series on product performance.
Our weekly average open rate is around 38-40%.
Despite some pretty good content and touching the critical pain point, it was frustrating that the first mail of the series only had 31% open rate.
Technically, there was no problem.
I gave myself some time to think more simply and look at things outside the box.
While sending the second e-mail of the series, I only made a small change in the title.
And boom! 💣
The open rate increased by 14% compared to last week. Compared to our overall open rate, it performed better by 5-7%.
I've seen again the fact that small changes can have big impacts.
Great insights!
Thanks a lot :)
