Anybody else creating educational content or tools?
Hey indie hackers,
I joined IH to connect with like-minded people as I try to monetize my software side projects. But I'm pivoting away from building software to something a little different.
I love to code, but I discovered that I love teaching and sharing knowledge even more. I want to turn that into a business.
So I've started working on educational products and services. The target market that I'm validating is: junior developers who want to accelerate their career.
I'm thinking of creating materials like career roadmaps and mini-courses, and maybe offering services like career coaching. I have a wealth of experience to share from my own career.
Other ideas that come to mind: selling an ebook, a video course, a resume tool.
Still lots to figure out. Is it a viable target market? What should be my MVP? I'm doing interviews to answer those questions and to validate the idea.
Does an educational business fit in on IH? I'm looking to connect with others who are doing similar things!
Yes. My project, Alchemist Camp is educational and aimed at developers.
There are many info products targeting that group. The market may be a bit crowded, but it definitely exists.

Where can I find lists of such products?
No idea, but I've seen a lot. Maybe nobody has compiled a list. Generally people are just promoting their own stuff.
I am currently working on an app to automatically schedule repeat tasks like practicing the piano or coding and over time learn the optimal time to remind you to complete them.
The idea is this will help people work towards mastery through regular and consistent effort.
I plan to release weekly articles detailing techniques and tools which can help you to be more productive and improve time management. This content, however, I will be giving away for free to help promote the app.
I think this is quite a common pattern. Stipe Atlas for instance give away a huge amount of free (quality) business advice to encourage you to use their paid service.
Perhaps this is an approach you can take with your own business?
I'm thinking about it. Not 100% sure which direction I'll go, but teaching and such is on my top 3 list. I have started with a series of blog posts. Would love to connect and share ideas.
Same here. I was thinking about the traditional Youtube videos + ebook but I'm not sure either.
