Are we putting the cart in front of the horse?

We currently hired a contractor developer to do website building, social media outreach, blog writing, etc.

He is essentially doing all the tasks that we need done while we focus on building the core product.

The thing this... we aren't making revenue yet

Currently it's $1500 a month to keep him and it feels like we are just spending money on an idea that may not pan out. On the other hand, I think that what he does is valuable but can't measure it since we are not making money yet.
