Building Eventra - because I was tired of forgetting events

Started Eventra because I had 47 event screenshots on my phone and couldn't remember which ones I actually wanted to attend.

The problem: See cool event on Instagram → screenshot it → forget it exists → miss the event.

Two weeks ago, I decided to fix this for myself. Built an OCR pipeline that reads event screenshots and auto-adds them to your calendar. Current accuracy: 85% on real Instagram posts.

Tech stack: React Native + Flask + Google Vision API. The hardest part wasn't the OCR - it was parsing "Friday July 18-20, 8 pm at The Well Brooklyn" into structured data that actually makes sense.

Just got the full UI working with calendar integration and maps. Planning TestFlight beta this weekend.

The bigger vision: social event discovery, friend recommendations, and local event insights. But starting simple - fix the screenshot problem first.

Two questions for the IH community:

1. Does anyone else relate to the screenshot graveyard problem?
2. For other mobile app builders - what's your biggest challenge with OCR accuracy?
