Channels and strategies to promote tech newsletter
I just started a Newsletter (https://techblogsearch.substack.com/p/20230423-latest-engineering-blogs) today, which collects the latest engineering blogs from different IT companies and provides quick summaries for blogs (TL; DR -> too long, didn't read).
I am asking how you promote your newsletter and gain traction, like channels (I only know a few, like Reddit, HackerNews, and Blind) and strategies. Thanks.
I have grown my Micro SaaS Ideas newsletter to 25,000 subscribers. Apart from leveraging Reddit, IH - I would recommend you to build high quality free content in your space or may be build some connected side projects and drive subscribers.

Yes. One side project I am doing is https://www.techblogsearch.dev/, which enables engineers/PMs to search engineering blogs of tech companies (i.e., Facebook, Netflix and Pinterest). I am going to link the newsletter from my side project.

I'm building my own newsletter on SaaS and it's at a very early stage (30 subs in 3 weeks). Here's where my visitors came from
Substack - 12 (40%) - this was a one time boost that I received at launch.. after that I didn't receive any new subs from substack
My own website microsaasdb (20%)- I'm happy there is a steady visitor-sub conversion from my website which I'm actively promoting.
30% is showing as direct but I suspect they either found me from twitter or my website.
10% from twitter
PS: I hardly ever promote my newsletter directly as I'm still finetuning its messaging. In past I experimented with newsletters and I couldn't stick with a single communication style- so now I'm focussing on building the content site (to know who my audience is) and accordingly plan my newsletter content.

I've heard that adding outbound links to Substack on your Profile/Tweets significantly demotes your profile/tweets - do you know if this is true at all / hae you experienced it?
For tweets that might be the case but I'm not sure about profile. Unless you have a large following your profile won't be suggested by Twitter to others anyway. So not sure if they can demote it.
