Do you take supplements? If so, what's in your stack?

My Stack: magnesium bisglycinate, creatine, whey protein, omega-3 fish oil, vitamin D3 (Mondays), melatonin on nights I can't sleep.

Curious what everyone else runs.

I use a similar stack, but I take vitamin D3 daily instead of just Mondays. Melatonin helps me too, but I keep it to under 1mg.

Daily? I hope it's not 60K, right? Because the only reason I take it every Monday is because I'm taking a 60,000 IU dose. I hope you're not doing the same, because you're not supposed to take 60,000 IU every day. But if it's 2,000 IU or 4,000 IU, then that's perfectly fine. As for melatonin, I'd keep it under 1 mg. That's what most doctors recommend too, right? For most people, something around 0.5 or 1 mg works well. Some people might need 2 or 3 mg, but for most people, keeping it under 1 mg is probably enough, so I think you're doing good there. You could also add magnesium glycinate. That might help with sleep even more. For me, since I've been taking it for quite a while, I wouldn't say it's been super effective for sleep, but I do think even a small improvement is worth it. Especially because it's not like melatonin, where the main purpose is sleep. You're also getting magnesium and potentially helping with muscle recovery, so there's more of a benefit to it.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I just found it and wanted to add my two cents. I have been trying ashwagandha lately for stress and it has made a big difference in my sleep quality. What has your experience been with magnesium bisglycinate long term? I keep hearing mixed things about taking it daily.

To be honest, I wouldn't say magnesium glycinate has been that effective for me sleep-wise. It hasn't been bad, but I wouldn't say it's been crazy effective either. Since magnesium glycinate isn't only about sleep and also gives you magnesium and can help with muscle recovery, I see it more as a trade-off. As for ashwagandha, I haven't really heard much about it being used specifically for sleep. It's more commonly talked about in the context of stress, gym performance, and recovery. I've never tried it myself, but a friend of mine did, and he felt like he was a bit emotionally numb. Things that would normally make him feel sad, angry, or happy just didn't hit him as strongly as they usually would. That being said, you're taking it for stress, so I guess it could help you deal with stress in a more manageable way. Not necessarily by making you feel no stress, but by making those emotions feel less intense and easier to handle.
